Willow stood  in her bedroom; clothing piled around her as she held yet another shirt in front of her body and gazed into the mirror.  It was a normal dilemma for the teen--what should she wear when she went out that night?  Her friends expected her to be the nerd of the group; to show up in overalls, or something else equally out of date, but she wanted to be something more...to do something.

Almost a year ago she had brought her vampire double into this dimension  accidentally, and though it had freaked her out, part of her had been in awe of herself.  She had never realized that she could look so, well...un-geeky and hot.  Dressing up as her vampire self had been so much fun, even though her friends had only allowed it so they could save the hostages in the Bronze.

That night the club had been darker than it usually was.  She could still remember the way her best friend, Buffy's, boyfriend had stared at her

The look he had given her had made Willow wonder what his grand-childe would have done.

Spike, the quintessential bad boy, had kidnapped her once, and since then, she had been majorly crushing on him.  Sure, it was wrong, and yeah.. he would never go for someone like her, but no one ever had to find out, right?

Finally deciding on a deep purple corduroy skirt that reached just above her knees and a clingy pink top, she quickly changed.  Looking herself over in the mirror once more, she ran a brush through her hair and slipped into her sneakers.

As she headed out of the empty house, she grabbed a little backpack.  it held the essentials for life in Sunnydale: a bottle of holy water (with a matching squirt gun), a stake (freshly sharpened), her student I.D. (for identification 'just in case'), drivers' license, money and her house key (just like in any other town).

Walking down the deserted streets, she let her thoughts slip back to Spike.  He was amazing.  he never seemed to care what anyone else thought of him, he did what he wanted, when he wanted...well, that was true, unless Dru  Spike's sire, wanted something else, but she had left him a while back. 'I wonder if things ended up working out between them...' Willow thought as she continued to walk towards town and the only night club in the town.  Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something move in the shadows.  It wasn't a big movement, and if someone didn't know about the things that went bump in the night, they probably wouldn't even notice, but she wasn't quite that fortunate.  Spinning on her heel, Willow started to unzip her bag, attempting to pin point the threat.

After standing in that place for five minutes, eyes searching, looking back to where the shadow had moved, she gave up and closed her backpack. She turned sharply and bumped into a big, strong, Billy Idol look-alike. His hair was blonde enough to almost be called white, and his eyes were the color of the sky just as the sun started to rise.  He wore the common vampire colors (black and red), along with the long leather duster he had stripped off one of the slayers he had killed.  His arms wrapped tightly around her, one around her mouth (to stop her from making any sounds), and the other around her slim waist (to keep her from falling over). "Well 'ello to you, too, pet.  Now, if you're a good little girl, I'll move my 'and and we can have a nice little chat.  'ow 'about it luv?"

Willow nodded slowly, carefully.  She had better do what he wanted, since she knew all to well that he could snap her neck if he so chose.  When he had finally removed his hand, she whispered, "What do you want Spike?"

I was waiting all my life to know you
All about you
And now I'm starring in your eyes ocean blue
I'm all about you

Spike smirked, he could feel the enticing waves of fear rolling off her.  There was something else too, but he couldn't begin to tell what it was. Well, Red, I was out lookin' for a spot of violence, but 'ere you are, all alone...where's your little group of friends?"

He spoke to her as though he might be concerned for her safety, but she knew that wasn't possible.  he was the big bad, why would he care about her? "I'm heading over to the Bronze to meet them," she answered, seemingly calm as she stared into his eyes too long.  She wished she had a boyfriend like him, possessive (but not so growly and likely to kill her on the tip of a dime), but none of her friends would understand that.  None of them knew.

And in our minds it comes so easily
But there's this feeling coming over me
I want to show you
But there's nowhere we can really be free
Everybody's watching
Wouldn't it be good if we could be together
Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer
Into the sun, we will run

Part of Willow implausibly wished that she was with him, protected and loved.  She'd never really had that as a normal part of her life.  Her parents had left her when she was about six.  She had been an accident, getting in the way of their work and she had found out years later when she had overheard one of their conversations.  By that time (and since she was such a smart child) she could be left alone for long periods of time.  They had friends drop by periodically to check on her, to make sure that she was eating correctly and taking care of things, but other than that she was always alone.

She did have her friends Xander (Alexander Lavelle Harris, her oldest and most loyal friend) and Jesse (who had died right after Buffy's appearance in Sunnydale), but they were just children too, and they had problems of their own.

Willow could remember dreaming of a man--not necessarily a knight in shining armor or anything---just a normal man.  Someone good and kind, loving and strong, who would shield her from the world's sorrows.

I try to remember when I was just a child
In my room
And my imagination used to run wild
I never knew

Looking at the vampire in front of her, Willow wondered if he had ever had dreams like that.  "Well pet, I don't see why you'd want ta be 'round them anyway..." Spike told her, tailing off at the end of his sentence as if he had wanted to say more, but had stopped for some reason.

"What do you mean Spike?"  Her fear was fading a little now.  Why would this guy warn her about her friends?  He didn't care about her...he didn't even know her.  No one really knew her.

"Nothing, just..." sighing, as though it were difficult for him to tell her, he went on, "look Red, I'm suppose ta be the big bad.  So I don't really see why I'm botherin' with this.  But you 'ave this fire in ya...and I just don't want them puttin' it out."  Spike was still holding her, talking to her as though he cared about her.  "They were talkin' 'bout you in that little club of your earlier.  They were sayin' 'ow pitiful it is that you're still not over the wolf (her ex-boyfriend) and all."

Willow stared  at him blankly for a few moments not sure if she wanted to laugh or cry.  She knew her friends thought she should be over him already, but she wasn't.  She had loved him, and he had found someone to take her place.  How could she already be over it?  "Th...they would never do that to me Spike, you're just trying to divide and conquer us," she tried
to say it like she meant it, but she couldn't.  Her voice was shaking, with both anger and tears about her friends talking about her like that, and she sounded weakly suspicious.  She sounded as though she expected him to her her all the time, and also like she was trying to convince herself that he was lying to her.

That nothing's ever as it seems to be
When a dream collides with our reality
It should be easy when two people love each other truly
Everybody's talking
Wouldn't it be good if they would understand us

"Well pet, normally I wouldn't offer to do this, but since I'm in such a good mood tonight, I'll make a deal with ya."

Even more suspiciously, Willow looked at him, "What kind of deal?"

"I'll drive you up to the Bronze," he said the club name with slight disgust, "and we'll listen in on your so-called little friends, and see what they really say about you when you're not there to defend yourself."

He stated it almost too simply.  There had to be a plot in there somethin; this was too out of character for him.  Almost giving in Willow asked slowly, as though she were waiting for a bomb to drop on her when she said one thing wrong, "What do you get out of this Spike?"

Letting go of her, he fished his cigarette out of his duster and lit one up, taking a puff before answering her.  "Well Red, you remind me a bit of my 'uman self.  Let's just say that makes me 'ave a bit of a soft spot for ya," he slowly and cunningly added, "And we're going back to your 'ouse first.  I'm pickin' out an outfit  for ya and we pack a bag.  If I'm right, we get out of this bloody town, and we see what kind of fire you really 'ave in ya."

Willow nibbled on her lower lip, a nervous habit she had had for years, and finally, looking up into Spike's deep blue eyes, she nodded.  She saw no hidden motive in his eyes, and besides, what would he want with her anyway?

Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer
Into the sun we will run

They walked silently back the way Willow had come, she unlocked the door to her house and continued in without a word while Spike crashed into the protective barrier that kept his kind from entering the homes of humans. "Um  Red luv?  Did you forget somethin'?"

Turning, a confused Willow looked at him blankly before realizing her mistake.  "Oh, I'm sorry Spike, I completely forgot!  Please, come in." With that, he fell through the invisible barrier uninhibited, but caught himself using his vampire reflexes.  They continued silently to her messy room.  "It's usually not like this..." she tried to explain but before she could, he began digging through her clothing, looking for something appropriate for the night.

It took a while, but finally he found it, a replica of the outfit her vampire self had worn.  Looking at Willow, he raised a scarred eyebrow. Well pet, I must say, this is quite the stunning little number.  Do you 'ave all the girly accessories that go with it?"  When she nodded, he smirked once more.  "Well then, you'd best get them together and change, we 'aven't got forever."

Wouldn't it be good if they would understand us
Wouldn't it be good if we could be together
Take me away

Gathering the under garments, boots, jewelry and make-up that went with the outfit, Willow headed into the bathroom.  She sat the things on the counter and began to strip off the outfit she had so carefully chosen earlier.  Slipping on the tight leather cat suit wasn't difficult, it was tailor fit to her body.  Tying up the front laces, she adjusted the red, lace ruffles that graced her bosom.

Adding the make-up wasn't difficult.  She began with the Urban Decay body glitter, or as she and Buffy liked to call it, 'Porno glitter.' It earned it's name due to the cute little phrase on the front of the bottle, For licking and kissing fun."  She used the light, white and silver shaded, marshmallow flavored glitter on all of her exposed skin, then added a nice gloss to her lips, and used a dark forest green eye shadow to create a smoky eye look that was currently popular.

Slipping into her high heeled boots, she took another quick glance into the mirror before she headed out to Spike, seeing herself, she decided she wasn't quite ready and used a little of her new-found magic to curl her hair slightly.  Now she could hardly recognize herself, which, she decided, was probably what he had wanted to accomplish.  Stepping out of the room, she waited for his reaction.

Spike was shocked.  He knew she could be a looker, he had known it was in her, but he had no idea that she could be that stunning.  "Very nice pet,   he practically purred, "You ready to go?"

Feeling a bit evil, she smirked like he had been doing all night, and answered him in a lower, more sensuous voice, "Yeah, let's go."

Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer
Into the sun we will run

Stepping into the Bronze holding onto Spike's arm, she could feel the eyes fall upon her, like they had all that time ago.  It wasn't something that she had even thought to expect, and it was definitely something that she was not use to, but she drew in all the positive feeling and stored it up inside her for the next time things went bad.

Willow let Spike lead her through the club and to a table right near her friends.  Sitting at the table, she had her back to them, but she could still hear every word that was said.  They were all complain about Willow's lack of interest in life, friends...anything since Oz (her werewolf, cheating, ex-boyfriend), had left, and how all she did was mope around.

Anya specifically had quite a few comments, though that wasn't unexpected from the non-censored ex-vengeance demon.  She didn't care for Willow's clothing choices, her personality or intelligence.

The hardest part, had to be that no one, not even Xander, stood up for her.  Tears silently streamed down her cheeks as she listened to their harsh words.  They didn't even seem to notice she was late.  Looking up into Spike s eyes she spoke softly, "Spike? Take me away from here.  Please?"

He nodded, helping her up from her seat and leading her out to his car, whispering under his breath, "As you wish, Princess," before gently kissing her lips.

Run
I will run with you wherever you go
Don't be afraid
Let's run away and I will steer
Into the sun we will run

In the shadows, a dark woman watched them leave the building.  She smiled evilly, happy that her plan was going so well.
